Additional Learning Needs Transformation in Wales

The system for supporting children and young people with additional learning needs and disability in Wales is changing. The Welsh Government is bringing in a new more flexible and responsive system of meeting the needs of children with ALN and is striving to deliver a fully inclusive education system for the learners of Wales.

In order to convert current practice to the new system, Welsh Government, local authorities and schools are working together closely to implement the changes outlined in the new ALNET Act (2018) and the new ALN Code (2021). This unified system is designed to support children and young people aged 0 to 25 with ALN in Wales.
